Split-Trogir-Plitvice Lakes - June 5

June 5
Leaving Split behind we continued our journey up the coast to the small island of Trogir.

After a short tour of the old town, another UNESCO world heritage place, we sat and enjoyed a coffee on the waterfront watching the world go by. We returned to the coach via Ice Cream Square. We both had double scoops. Cost $2:50 for both ice creams. Pretty good value.

Our route took us across a plain with mountains on either side. The motorway we were on climbed high up the mountainside with many loops and tunnels. Finally we travelled through the mountain top via a 6 km tunnel.

Coming out the other side we were in very different countryside. High rolling hills all around. We were headed for Plitvice Lakes national park, yet another UNESCO world heritage site.

Very much looking forward to tomorrow when I think I will need to break out the walking boots and poles again, just to be on the safe side.

Before leaving Split, we had time to visit the markets
