Legend of the Seas–Day 2-3

Apr 2-3 2014
After a day at sea settling in to our new surroundings and catching up with people on the ship we arrived at Cabo San Lucas, Mexico around 11am on day 3.
I’d been lucky (or unlucky) enough to be awake shortly after sunrise and managed to catch a lovely shot of the sun rising through the clouds. Later . we had our first close up view of the Mexican coastline; very dry and mountainous. We passed very close to “Land’s End” at the end of the peninsula on which Cabo San Lucas sits. That was to be our destination on our kayak and snorkelling tour. There were lots of juvenile sea gulls entertaining passengers who were throwing bread off the decks. The aerial acrobatics are always fascinating. Other local birds we saw were Majestic Frigates and lots of juvenile pelicans (no adults to be seen).
Our tour took us along the peninsula to the limestone rock formations at the entrance to the bay. It was an easy kayak paddle, following our guide who was on a stand up paddle board, so easy to follow. We passed lots of pelicans sitting on some of the rocky outcrops and saw a seal colony. The seals have become so used to the fishing boats which sail out daily that they follow them in to the harbour and hop up on to the rear ledge of the boat to be fed tidbits of fish.
All in all it was a lovely day.
