April 1
Today we board the ship, our home for the next few weeks. After a quick breakfast (not sure we would recommend the local breakfasts) we checked out of the hotel and caught a taxi to the cruise terminal. Check in was, as usual, quite painless and we were soon on board. After people watching for a while before our cabin was available, we settled in then went to explore unencumbered by hand baggage.
The weather had turned quite cool, but after some early rain the sun came out and we had lovely weather to sail away out of San Diego harbour and start heading south. With luck we can put away all the cool weather clothes for a while.
We think this duo will be very popular – their repertoire is extensive, but mostly it has a reggae beat which is not particularly strange as they are from the Caribbean.
There are some lovely tall ships based in San Diego.

The airport is really close to everything
Sailing away we had another view of the Midway and as we walked about the ship different views of San Diego came in to view as we sailed away
Not, at first, a particularly lovely view, but centre left you can see the rather lovely mainline railway station

Ship features are always a source of interest

The USS Midway and in the distance the bridge to Coronado Island
