Seattle to Maui

A travelling day but some interesting happenings. Up early, breakfast and on to the shuttle to the airport. We are much happier sitting around in the airport lounge than being late. We were able to catch a few zzzzzz’s on the plane which was a good thing as we moved the clocks back 3 hours.

Maui was sunny and warm – oh what a surprise. Our car pick up went very smoothly and very soon we were driving out of the airport in our Mustang convertible – couldn’t resist!!!!

Our hotel was not hard to find, Paia is only a small community. I had chosen to stay on the north shore of the island for a variety of reasons. This hotel turned out to be the best choice for us. Not only was it well situated for what we planned to do, it was charming and the staff were very welcoming.

We had decided that after checking in we should find a laundromat. After finding the one in town unsuitable, the hotel staff made another suggestion which turned out very well. Not only did we get to visit another Upcountry town, Haiku, but we got our washing done and had a great meal as well. Tomorrow we start exploring.
