Twelve of us met at Circular Quay from all points NW and spent a very pleasant 20 mins or so on the ferry to Cabarita. One of the most delightful modes of transport in the city and a particular favourite of mine.
Arriving at the point in Mortlake we had to revert to walking some streets which is also quite enjoyable. After leaving the industrialised area we followed some quite attractive suburban streets until we were once again able to join the foreshore walk at Majors Bay.
Following the path around the next point we were surprised to encounter fields with horses grazing. It was time for a stop so we had some refreshments and a few of the walkers who had apples to eat attracted the attention of the horses, one coming down from the higher part of the field.
A good way to dispose of the apple cores!!
The path was sometimes not as well defined but we managed to find our way around the site of Concord Hospital and on to the Kokoda Memorial Walk.
After visiting the Memorial Rose Garden we were very glad to stop for lunch at the cafe.
Lunch finished, duly refuelled, we headed for Rhodes Station, a short walk away, for the journey home.
Here's the route
